How to get a warmer and more welcoming home

There is no place like home. It is the place where you feel safe and comfortable. It is where you arrived after a long day at work. So you want a place to feel warm, cozy, and welcoming for you and the people who visit you. There are some tips you can follow to have a warmer and more welcoming home.

Get comfortable sofas and chairs

Choose for your living room a comfortable, puffy sofa and complement it with textiles and cushions. One more cushion than the sofa seats is more than enough. A comfortable sofa makes your house feel more comfortable and welcoming.

Extra seats are also important, so choose comfortable chairs too. Puffs are perfect, they are very comfortable, and give a more relaxed and informal vibe to the room.

Use warm colors

Colors in a room can change the way you feel in it. Probably your house walls are white, so you can choose furniture or ornaments that give a warmer and cozier feeling to your spaces. Red and colors of the same spectrum like orange and yellow can cause anxiety so try to avoid them if you want a more relaxing vibe. Browns, whites, and beiges are better. Blue can have a very relaxing effect but use in excess can cause depression.

Lighting is very important

Just like colors, light can change dramatically how a room feels. Natural light is your best ally to make any room warmer and cozier. However, artificial light can do the trick too. Always avoid having a single overhead light, it will give any space an interrogation room look.

Try to fill the room with light, using table or floor lamps, LEDs, and even candles (preferably scent). String lights can give a bohemian and relaxed vibe to any space. Always use warm lights, cold lights give a waiting room feel to any space, and of course, we do not want that. Mirrors can also make any room feel bigger and brighter.

Use curtains and rugs

Curtains protect you from the weather and outside gazes. They give you a sense of security. Choose long curtains that reach the floor and drag on the floor at least 20 cm (8 in) more. Rugs are also a great help to give warmth to your room, dressing the cold floor. Walking barefoot on them can be very relaxing. Choose cotton and wool rugs, they are warm in winter and cool in summer.

Add some life with plants and flowers

Plants give life, color and even a fresh scent to the room. Before choosing a plant, find out how much water and sunlight they need, to give them the best care. Use pots and planters of warm colors like terracotta and metallics like brass.

Flowers can also give color and a good scent to any space. They are beautiful but you have to take good care of them.

You can buy or rent some furniture to complement and give a welcoming vibe to your house.
